Safetyline Jalousie's Smoke Relief Solution for Taiga Apartments

Safeyline Jalousie louvres have recently been involved in the Sekisui House project "Taiga Apartments" at Wentworth Point. The development is divided into three separate buildings - one 26 storey tower and two 8 storey low rise forms.

Installed on each level, Safetyline Jalousie louvres provide the required natural ventilation into the common areas but, the key selling point for the Architect was their ability to act as a smoke relief solution, compliant with Australian Standards. Each louvre window is fitted with fire-rated actuators which interface with the fire indicator panel and building management system. In the event of a fire, smoke sensors trigger the louvres to open and allow smoke to exit the building. Having this system in place allows the occupants of the 990 luxury apartments to access the fire stairs with better visibility and reduces the risk of smoke inhalation - a major killer in building fires.

In addition to meeting the Australian Standards for smoke/fire relief, the louvres further protect the residents by complying with the regulatory safety requirements for windows installed above ground level and unlike other louvre products, were able to be fitted with laminate glass.
