Davco's Lanko superior floor levelling range takes off The LANKO Floor Levelling range, a superior group of products for repairing, filling or levelling floors in construction projects, has taken off with wide acceptance by trade applicators. The Lanko brand belongs to the Davco Construction Materials stable of products.
LANKO 133 Pro Level floor leveller has been successfully used to level floor areas at the Ove Arup Consulting Engineers office in West Perth. According to Tony Taddie of Total Ceramics, being able to do the job quickly because of the drying properties of LANKO 133 Pro Level, meant saving time and completing the job in a high profile area without the usual mess associated with sand and cement on these jobs. "We had to make rectifications to the floor area because it was not level enough to lay large format ceramic tiles on. We would normally install a 25-30mm sand/cement screed down in order to do this. Ove Arup did not like the idea of such a large step up into the room, so we opted for Lanko 133 Pro Level." "To give some idea of the speed of the job, on the Thursday night we ripped up the carpet and prepared the surface with Davco Ultrabond. Then on the Friday night we levelled the floor with LANKO 133 Pro Level. It was easy to use considering this was the first time we had used the new product. "Then on the Saturday morning we were able to tile the area with 400 x 400 reconstituted opaque tiles using Davco SMP 2010 adhesive. We used SMP 2010 because we were tiling with the opaque tiles and did not want a dark colour adhesive behind it" said Tony Taddie. "We were very happy with the results using Lanko 133 Pro Level. We were going to screed but we wanted to keep it thinner. With LANKO we were able to go over old adhesive and achieve a very good surface. "It's a no mess, no fuss product that we plan to use on our next big floor levelling project. This was a great starter project to see how good it is" Tony Taddie added. LANKO 133 Pro Level is a cement based, internal/external self levelling, high strength underlayment designed for levelling floors prior to installation of carpet, vinyl, ceramic tiles and other floor covering systems. According to Peter Hollins, Davco's Sales Manager - Technical Mortars, Lanko is an International brand with a market leading position in Western Europe. "We have been able to draw on the extensive overseas experience of our parent company as well as our own local expertise as Australia's largest in the field of cement and polymer blending. "LANKO 133 Pro Level is being produced at our Australian plant and is designed for local conditions. Extensive pre-launch on the job testing was carried out in conjunction with major floor levelling contractors. They were delighted with the speed of application and the finish they could achieve with LANKO 133 Pro Level. "The result is a superior floor leveller that brings many benefits to applicators in the floor levelling market" said Peter Hollins. "Significantly LANKO 133 Pro Level can be used externally for areas such as deck areas and footpaths, as well as internally, and is suitable for wet areas. It is also compatible with commonly used adhesives. It has low water demand (approximately 20%) allowing for more rapid drying. This means floor coverings can normally be laid within 16-18 hours of installation" Hollins added. LANKO 133 Pro Level can be featheredged but due to its excellent flow and reflow properties there is a lower requirement for this the next day. It also eliminates or minimises trowelling and there are no signs of shrinkage even when thick sections are poured next to thin sections. It can be applied in multiple layers - each up to 25mm thick. "The ease with which the product can be applied is also demonstrated by its lower laitance level. In other words, it needs less sanding after application and less dust is created, making it a highly efficient and time saving floor leveller. "Floor coverings can now be installed quicker than before due to higher early strengths (10MPa after 1 day) and higher long term strengths (39MPa after 28 days)."In these circumstances the floor is able to take traffic earlier and with the higher long term strengths LANKO 133 Pro Level can be installed in more demanding environments." LANKO 133 Pro Level is available in 20kg bags. This is complemented by LANKO 134 Pro Level Rapid for speedy installations, Lanko 135 Feather Edge, a feathering mortar, and a range of primers and additives. The LANKO range is available through Davco offices and agents throughout Australia as well as South East Asia. The results of extensive tests of the new product range including set times, and compressive, flexural and tensile strengths, are available.
