Design Institute & Designex – Interior Design Awards
The Interior Design Awards promotes excellence in Australian design through a credible and internationally recognised annual program.
Purpose & Background
The purpose of the Interior Design Awards is to celebrate and recognise interior design excellence via a credible, industry-based program,
which is backed by the Design Institute of Australia (the professional body representing Australian designers).
- The awards conferred have both national and international significance.
- The judging process is transparent and conforms to international standards.
- Jurors are eminent designers working with a convenor appointed by the Design Institute of Australia.
- Entrants receive media recognition via a range of newspapers, magazines and websites.
- Any Australian based design professional can enter.
- Funds raised by the program are used solely to deliver the program.

- Retail Interior Design
- Hospitality Interior Design
- Corporate Interior Design
- Public/Institutional Interior Design
- Best of State Award for Commercial Interior Design (awarded at jury discretion)
- Colour in Commercial Interior Design (generously supported by Dulux Duspec)
Residential Award Categories 2006
- Residential Interior Design
- Best of State Award for Residential Interior Design (awarded at jury discretion)
- Residential Interior Decoration
- Colour in Residential Interior Design (generously supported by Dulux Duspec)
Other Award Categories 2006
- Award for Interior Design Excellence & Innovation (generously supported by Forbo)
- Winners of national awards categories 1 to 4 and 6 to 7 are finalists for this premier award
- Environmentally Sustainable Design (generously supported by Somfy)
- Entry is optional, and assessment will be based on project/s submitted for awards categories 1 to 4 and 6 to 7.
- Emerging Practice (Principal Under 36 years)
- Entry is optional, and assessment will be based on project/s submitted for awards categories 1 to 4 and 6 to 7.

Eligibility
Entry is open to all Australian-based interior designers, interior decorators, interior architects and other design professionals. Entries
are encouraged from individuals, groups, partnerships and those working in larger practices.
All projects entered must have been completed between 1 September 2004 and 31 December 2005 and may not have been entered into the 2005
Interior Design Awards.
Entry Process
All intending entrants are encouraged to register their projects by completing an on-line Call for Registration. Entry forms will be sent
in November 2005.
Entry Submissions
Entry submissions will be accepted from 21 November 2005 to 17 February 2006. You can register using the online form.

Early receipt of entry submissions will increase the likelihood of your project receiving pre-event coverage in architecture, design and
lifestyle publications.
