Marmoleum flooring from Forbo is fast becoming a powerful weapon

In the fight worldwide against the spread of bacteria such as MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphyloccus Aureus), which continues to be an ongoing problem in
healthcare facilities.
Supporting this is the release in May 2006 of the results of a major study. Undertaken by Curtis Gemmel, Professor of Bacterial Infection and Epidemiology at the University
of Glasgow, the study confirmed that Marmoleum does completely inhibit the growth of the MRSA superbug.
Professor Gemmel tested Marmoleum under "worst case conditions" and found the results provided "the most robust case for Marmoleum as an ally in the fight against
infection".
His tests established that Marmoleum inhibited the growth of MRSA and, except in the most extreme laboratory testing conditions, even killed the superbug.
It found that Staphylococcus aureus, including MRSA strains commonly associated with hospital acquired infection, were less likely to survive reducing the risk of these
bacteria spreading.
Professor Gemmel had been sceptical about Marmoleum's antibacterial qualities before tests started at the well-respected TNO laboratory in Holland.
"I have to admit, along with most of the scientific world, to having a degree of scepticism about these proclaimed qualities," he said.
"I am now delighted to say that, after robust testing, the claims are shown to be quite true... Marmoleum does indeed inhibit the growth of several bacterial including
MRSA."

Hygiene a priority
Independent tests also confirmed that Marmoleum's two-layer 'Topshield' surface finish, made from tough high-density primer, creates a more hygienic environment and
reduces maintenance costs.
Topshield is resistant to scuffing and scratching and helps to ensure Marmoleum, made from natural raw materials, is built to withstand the most demanding healthcare
environments.
Stylish addition
Available in sheets and tile formats in more than 100 rich colours and six design effects, Marmoleum flooring is a stylish addition to any healthcare institution.
Design elements can be cut to chosen colour specifications or a hospital crest, signage or unique design incorporated into the floor for a stand-out effect.
