Tactile ground service indicators by Insafe Tactile Paving

Tactile Ground Service Indicators, TGSIs, are a series of raised
dots and bars installed on pedestrian surfaces to assist in the orientation of
people who are blind or vision impaired. Tactile's are primarily designed to give
warning to people so that they may safely negotiate the built environment. Tactile
Indicators are felt under foot, detected by cane, or even read as light contrast.
Tactile Paving is, where they are going and where they have been. The extra advantage
is the general public benefit from the tactile indicators, as well, in their
navigation of public spaces.
Tactile Indicators are mandatory. These tactile standards are enforced to allow for
clear reading of TGSIs in all public places and to ensure the experience of the
vision impaired remains consistent in the urban landscape.
We are ahead of the world, including Europe and America, with these legislated
Tactile codes.
