Legacy Way is the latest of three vehicular tunnels that crisscross under Brisbane to relieve evolving surface roads traffic congestion problems. As with all of Brisbane's tunnels, Legacy Way showcases a range of EJ covers and grates.

This specific tunnel was designed and built to reduce traffic on Milton Road and Coronation Drive, making it safer for residents. And safety has been a priority in design and build and is why Legacy Way has incorporated a surface water drain and flame trap pit, a collaboration between Humes and EJ.

This ensures that in the event of a fuel spill, fluids are rapidly drained from the surface into the pit where any chance of ignition is greatly reduced and in fact, if burn does occur, flames are trapped and smothered in the pit itself.

Humes pits were installed with 160 M66XHD galvanised sump grates and A44D concrete infill covers by EJ, along with 100 HM203D flushing point covers.

The joint involvement with companies such as Humes on projects of this scale is becoming much more prevalent with EJ supplying specified and customised covers and grates.
