This consists of a submersible pump with a bypass attached to the discharge opening, which recycles part of the pumped liquid to the intake, generating a jet flow. The ejector effect helps suck up the scum, water or air from the water surface at a constant rate. The floating mechanism keeps the relative positions between water surface and the intake constant at all times, thus preventing operation failure due to changes in the water level.

Applications include collection and return of floating scum at sewage treatment plants, collection of suspended solids on water surface and collection of supernatant liquid near water surface. The Tsurumi Scum Skimmer collects more scum and less supernatant liquid than conventional equivalents. It is ideal for Sewage Treatment Plant applications.
