Uni-TWS thermal wall system helped this rural home overcome its challenges with style - Unitex.

Perched on a busy road and exposed to extreme summers and winters, this rural renovation project presented many challenges.
Local builder, John Boyd (John Boyd Constructions), needed to deliver a renovation that not only brought the old weatherboard
exterior in line with surrounding new villa style homes but also provided insulation against heat, cold and road noise.

products did not deliver the required results and lead John Boyd to seek advice from Terry Brown of
Period Mouldings and Renders, a local supplier of Unitex products. Terry recommended the Uni-TWS (Thermal Wall System) by Unitex for its
multiple benefits of energy efficiency, cost effective installation, ease of handling and flexibility of application.
These last two features proved particularly useful as John Boyd had never used Uni-TWS before. To help him on his way, Tony Perez, from
Complete Render and Mouldings, delivered a 90-minute training session on Uni-TWS.
"After the training session I realised how many ways I could apply Uni-TWS and rather than simply cladding the home, I ended up using it
out front on the carport." Boyd said. Other Unitex products were also specified for this project including lightweight Unitex Renders and
Textured Finishes; Uni-Shape Mouldings - window, sill and parapet; Uni-Shape Columns; and even a decorative Uni-Shape Swag to finish the
look on the façade of the carport.
Boyd found Uni-TWS a lot lighter and easier to work with when compared to traditional materials he had used in the past and is already
considering Uni-TWS for a new project in the planning stages.
"I was very happy with it," claims Boyd, adding that, "as far as heating goes it's fantastic and it keeps the rooms a lot cooler in summer
too." When asked about noise reduction from the busy road outside the property, Boyd observed, "When you close the front door, the Uni-TWS
system seems to cut out a lot of the street noise."
The Uni-TWS has been fully appraised by the CSIRO and meets Australian Standards. It also comes with a Home Owners Warranty for peace of
mind.
