Tactile indicators from DTAC for the vision impaired The luminance of Tactile Indicators is "The Art of Compliance." Pretend you're partially blind. Choose an object, turn away while half closing your eyes for a few seconds, then turn back and look at the light bouncing from it. Was the object reflecting light enough for you to see it while visually impaired? If it wasn't it wouldn't make it as a Tactile Indicator (TGSI's) Did you know that there has to be a luminance contrast of 30% with Integrated Tactile's, a 45% contrast with Discreet Tactile's and 60% for two tone Individual Tactile's according to AS/NZS 4586 2002? These luminance contrasts are important to get right from the start and also important to maintain i.e. keep the Tactile Indicators clean. Normal ware and tear can easily change the original contrast.
