Working with Composite Decking: Starting and Finishing

Composite decking

Composite decking is an alternative decking material that makes use of recycled materials as its main components. It takes the place of the traditional timber decking and works better because it is not prone to rotting, or termite and white ant corrosion, therefore, enabling your deck floors to have a longer lifespan.

CleverDeck by Futurewood is a composite decking product that is suitable for various kinds of applications. Because it is made up of cellulose and recycled plastic, CleverDeck is more efficient due to its eco-friendly properties and its capability to withstand extreme weather changes. It requires very little care and maintenance which is perfect for property owners who are busy living their lives.

What sets CleverDeck apart from other decking materials is its ability to provide a sleek and chic grain textured finish. Cleverdeck comes in 5 designer colours: Walnut, Saltbush, Slate Grey, Chocolate and Mahogany; making it a versatile product that works for properties with different styles and aesthetics.

Starting and Finishing the Installation

Although CleverDeck can be drilled and cut like other decking materials, Futurewood made the extra effort to make the process of fixing in this composite decking simpler and faster all thanks to their concealed fix clipping system.

The first board referred to as the "starting board" will normally be installed with one "free" edge. This edge features a clean slate and is intended to be gapped against the face of the wall or at the outside edge of the deck. Note that the starting board can only be installed using the NewTech deck clip on the inner edge. Futurewood recommends the usage of the NewTech Starter/Finishing (S/F) clip to secure the starting board.
