Porcelain Floor Tiles Manufacturing and Design with Johnson Tiles

Tile Manufacturing

Fifty years of Excellence

Johnson Tiles have been producing quality wall and floor tiles in Australia for more than 50 years. In that span of time, the ceramic and porcelain tile design and manufacturing industry have grown in style, quality, safety and sustainable practices. From the Rock and Roll era of 60's up to today's Internet age, Johnson Tiles has stayed on top of the trends by working closely with designers and architects in specifying indoor and outdoor tiles.

1960's-1970's
Johnson Tiles came to the Australian shores during mid-1960. It was a time when homes were imitative of past architectural styles such as Austere, Art Deco, Dutch Colonial while still adding flavours of old English styles to the mix. The fusion of these styles has paved the way for new design disciplines such as organic, stripped classical, post-modern, Australian Nostalgic, Tropical and Brutalist. Tiles were known to be in plain pastel colours. This style continues to be used today.

Meanwhile, intense colours and patterns for porcelain floor tiles were all the rage in the 70's. Tile designs become bolder, borderline, psychedelic.

Johnson Tiles have been at the epicentre of this movement.

1980's-1990's
Australia saw a building boom starting from the 80's up to the 90's. There was a demand for tiling companies with quick turnarounds. Johnson Tiles have provided consistently high quality of service to both domestic and commercial industries. It was also the time when the industry laid the groundwork for both manufacturing best practices and product standards.
