Low formaldehyde emission MDF is used The special MDF board used in the Opalz process is manufactured by Carter Holt Harvey and is classified as a low formaldehyde emission board in accordance with Australian Standards. No Harmful VOC's Most liquid paint systems used to finish MDF such as polyurethane, require the release into the environment of harmful Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's) which are necessary to allow the paints to cure. The beautiful Opalz finish is completely free of harmful VOC's which is good news for our environment. Opalz seals the Board The special powder coating used in the Opalz process is highly impermeable and the coating is on all sides which fully encapsulates and completely seals the MDF board.
