Fantech tips for efficient fan installations

The Fantech do's and don'ts

With more than 35 years experience in the HVAC industry, Fantech has learnt a thing or two about fans and air movement.

The company manufactures and distributes more than 100 product ranges throughout Australasia, but their service and expertise does not end there.

"One of the founding principles of Fantech was a commitment to service the needs of customers and provide sound technical advice, and that philosophy still holds true today," Fantech Engineering Manager Kerry Dumicich said.

"We work with our customers when developing new products, but also on a daily basis when they need to select the most efficient fan for a particular application."

Mr Dumicich said that Fantech has accumulated a lot of knowledge over the years and willingly shared this with their customers to help them get maximum performance from Fantech products.

"Installation is an area where there is often room for improvement," he said. "The disturbances to airflow caused by inefficient installation may lead to pressure losses and/or increased noise, which ultimately affects the performance of the system and waste energy at the same time."

To assist engineers to develop more efficient duct designs, Fantech developed a highly valuable Installation do's and don't reference guide.

"The reference guide has been developed by Fantech over years of testing and working with other industry experts to promote good system design," Mr Dumicich said.

"The simple diagrams show better ways to install rigid ducts and minimise system pressure losses so that smaller, more energy efficient fans can be used.

"Lower energy consumption and reduced running costs keep the building occupant happy and this keeps our customers coming back for more."
