Public Art from Peter Day Environmental Art + Design Public Art a Winner The value of Public Art was highlighted recently when Western Sydney based Environmental Art and Design (EA+D) was awarded for its Professional Services in the 2009 Business Achiever Awards. The judges recognised the increasing value that councils and institutions are placing on the importance of public art in creating healthy happy and prosperous communities. Under the guidance of Artistic Director Peter Day, and with over 30 years experience EA+D have created more than 180 innovative and functional site specific pieces of public art in Eastern Australia, New York and Mexico. The techniques of visual arts and industrial design are combined to produce a diverse range of work including murals, sculpture, banners, playgrounds, seating, water features, ceramics, and mosaics. Public art solutions are available for all locations, both private and public. Not content with only creating works of art, EA+D also provide contract services in the areas of Public and Community Arts, Cultural Planning, and Urban Design. With an increase in the demand for Public Art, exciting projects are underway for 2010. Work has recently been completed for Marrickville Council at the Brighton St Reserve with the installation of 'Basalt Sittee', a bench seat/children's play sculpture, already the piece is attracting the attention of children with a wonderful opportunity to explore.
