Galserv® Hot Dip Galvanising Services on Target!

Galserv® Hot Dip Galvanising Services has helped create a new, state of the art golf centre including driving range and practice facility in Sydney's northwest.

The Thornleigh Golf Centre opened in September 2012 and has established a new bench mark for golf practice ranges in Australia.

The $5 million project features 56 hitting bays over two levels, a clubhouse and a 15,000 square meter landing area.

Galserv® Hot Dip Galvanising Services worked closely with fabricator Combell Steelfab and builder DBHE Building Services to ensure high quality galvanising and on time delivery of the steel frame hitting bay structure which has the unique ability to be raised or lowered according to need.

The range is sited on a clay capped filled brick pit that required an innovative design to overcome differential site settlement.

The structure therefore incorporates a system to adjust deck levels and a lightweight hot dip galvanized steel superstructure was chosen for this reason.

This innovative design enabled the project to win an award at the ASI NSW Awards earlier in the year.

The driving range features some of the best golfing ideas available around the world including a synthetically turfed and contoured landing area with raised greens and auto ball return.

More than 130,000 tonnes of soil were brought on to the site to create the range which has been designed in such a way that no ball retriever is required.

The centre also includes the highest fence ever built in the Southern Hemisphere (36 metres tall on the Pennant Hills Road side). The wall has been constructed with special ultra-violet stable netting from the USA.

The land is owned by Hornsby Shire Council and has been leased to Thornleigh Golf Centre, which has developed the site and will operate the facility for the next 21 years.
