The corrosion control methods implemented by Bellis goes through four systematic processes:
Corrosion is measured or rated in four different stages. These are the following:
Stage 0
The surface coating is not compromised. There is also no pitting, no etching and the surface shows no sign of rust stain.
Stage 1
The surface is compromised and bubbly. Cracked paint reveals rusty red, black or white corrosion on the metal surface. There is also minor etching or pitting of metal substrate, leading to loose, powdery and small granular deposits on the metal surface. The base metal is still intact.
Stage 2
The metal base remains intact. However, powdered, granular substances can be seen on the surface coating. The metal surface appears etched or pitted.
Stage 3
Conditions are similar to Stage 2; only the metal surface is now compromised. Small holes are also present with loose, granular condition.
Stage 4
Corrosion has progressively destroyed the metal structure.
3. Plan the preventive actions and corrosion control methods
Plan the solution. The ultimate goal of corrosion control methods is to preserve and maintain structural integrity. If the structure is corrosion-free, the risk of harmful chemical spills or explosion is significantly reduced.
Preventive measures for corrosion depends on the extent of damage found. Regular repair service that includes sandblasting, cleaning, priming, re-painting and re-applying of insulation materials are applicable to Stage 1 and Stage 2 corrosion levels. These corrosions control methods can also be done on Stage 3 and Stage 4. However, new assemblies might be necessary for areas that are severely corroded and damaged.
4. Execute corrosion control
The implementation of appropriate corrosion control methods will lead to a safer working environment beneficial to both the employees and the surrounding environment.
Bellis expertise in dealing with different types of corrosion control methods has put them front and centre in the wide scale industrial application of corrosion services.
With their combined systematic approach in corrosion control and high-quality insulation materials, Bellis can provide a safe and seamless corrosion repair service like no other.
