HIA, Australia’s largest building industry association , today released the nation’s most comprehensive report card on the residential sector.
Saving from a 0.5 per cent rate cut?
HIA confirmed today that an interest reduction of 0.5 per cent would save a first home buyer (for a typical first home loan) $101 per month.
The Hot and Cold of Building Approvals
HIA released a new report entitled “The Hot and Cold of New Building”. The report provides a clear picture of where the fall in building approvals over the past six months has had the harshest impact. It also highlights the state’s hottest building spots over the past six months.
Finance Figures Continue to Soften
The total number of home loans for the month of June declined by 2.6% for the month of June, falling from 6359 to 6196 on a seasonally adjusted basis.
House and Land Package Values Decline
House and Land package values have softened, with both Perth Metro and Regional WA experiencing falls in the order of $16,000 to $18,000 for the March quarter 2008.
Average Size of Housing Stabilizes
The average size of a residential dwellings approved in the past 12 months has stabilised.
