Building Approvals bounce back in March
The Housing Industry Association, Australia’s largest building industry organisation, said that monthly building approvals grew by a healthy 15.3 per cent in March 2010. The increase was driven by a massive 51.2 per cent increase in units and semi-detached approvals and a small 0.5 per cent increase in detached dwelling approvals.

Rising Rates Risks Residential Building Recovery, Makes Urgent Henry Review Recommendations
Australia’s peak building and construction industry association, Master Builders Australia, warned of further risks to the building and construction industry arising from today’s decision by the Reserve Bank of Australia to raise the official cash rate by a further one quarter of a percentage point, the sixth increase in eight months after rates bottomed at 3 per cent in April 2009.

Green home audit scam
The Green Building Council of Australia is aware that some consumers have received phone calls from a person or persons purporting to be from a GBCA call centre. The caller claims that the GBCA was operating a program in conjunction with the federal government to conduct environmental checks on people's homes.
