The Woodage is one of the first Australian timber retailers and wholesalers
to have been chosen to supply timber for the Olympic Village.
" We are proud to have been chosen for the Olympic Village. Our
goal has always been to sell timber with the highest environmental credentials."
Peter Mussett, Managing Director of The Woodage.
The Woodage began in 1990 using a mobile sawmill to recover timber from
storm-damaged trees, suburban gardens and local councils. In 1993 they added recycled timber and imported plantation
timbers to their product range. In 1998, The Woodage add imported timber certified under the Forest Stewardship
Council (F.S.C) system.
The Mirvac Lend Lease Village Consortium has already indicated it will be purchasing from the first hipment of
F.S.C approved timber for the Olympic Village. Other customers of The Woodage include furniture makers, joiners,
boat builders, manufacturers and crafts people.
"Many of our customers are looking for timber with reputable
environmental credentials. We are aiming to make the timber industry accountable to its customers on environmental
matters. Supporting F.S.C. certification is an effective way of achieving our aims."
Peter Mussett, Managing Director of The Woodage.
