Drought Tolerant plants make sense from Plantworld

Dry gardens don't have to be dull or boring.  There are plenty of plants that will survive the drought with little water.  Choosing suitable plants for dry conditions and adopting good watering practices will keep your garden looking great through these dry periods.

Good watering practices include giving your garden a good soak once a week rather than a little bit of water daily.  This encourages roots to grow deeper into the soil to improve their drought tolerance.  Try to water the roots more than the foliage.  Mulching is another way of conserving water.

If you are unsure of what plants do well in your area, go for a walk in your neighbourhood and have a look at how well plants are surviving through the driest weather.   Take note of the plants that are thriving.

At Plantworld we do everything to give our plants what they need to survive dry conditions.  We use the highest quality potting mix with added fertilizer, wetting agent and water storage granules.  In fact, our potting mix exceeds Australian standards for water holding capacity and air porosity.   All our plants are sun-hardened before they are sold.  This is very important for plant survival.
