JPS Coatings offers seamless acrylic primer to achieve uniform substrate porosity in solid plastering and rendering applications. The water acrylic based coating maximises adhesion of subsequent render/coating applications, effectively maintaining the level appearance and finish of the entire coating system. Highly versatile, JPS Coatings Primer is adherent to off-form concrete, glass-reinforced concrete, fibre-cement sheeting, cement render and plasterboard.
JPS Coatings Primer can be easily applied in three (3) stages:
1. Surface Preparation: The substrate must be clean, dry, structurally sound, and free of dust, dirt, oils, grease, release agents and other powdery residues. These foreign matters are considered bondage breakers that interfere with the adhesion of subsequent coats. In addition, tie wires, nails and steel must be completely removed from the surface. All other metal objects must be subjected to corrosion stabilisation.
Fresh cementitious substrates must be left for seven (7) days before coating. To ensure optimum coating performance, the surface must have less than 15% moisture wood equivalent at the time of coating. Once the surface has been prepared, it is time to prime.
2. Application: JPS Coatings Primer has a coverage of approximately 10 m2/L, depending on the area of the surface, assuming no loss. Practical spreading rates may vary due to the method and conditions of application, among other factors. The seamless acrylic primer is suitable for single coat application in 2-4mm thicknesses.
The material must be first thoroughly mixed to maintain level consistency upon application. The applicator may use a roller, airless spray or standard spray. A brush must be used for application on tight spaces, around openings, etc. The applicator must ensure not to thin out the layer, or apply over damp surfaces except where specified to autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC).
JPS Coatings Primer must be applied within temperature conditions of 7°C and below 30°C. An application under the full sun or hot and windy conditions is discouraged. Freshly primed surfaces must be protected from rain and frost for a minimum of 24 hours.
3. Drying/Curing: JPS Coatings Primer is surface dry after 30 minutes. Re-coating can be carried out in two (2) hours at 25°C temperatures and 50% relative humidity. However, the drying process will take longer at lower temperatures and/or higher relative humidity.
JPS Coatings Primer is supplied in 15L pails, with a shelf life of one (1) year from the date of manufacture. Coating systems by JPS Coatings are backed with a 10-year warranty.
