Fletcher Insulation insulation, acoustics & more

Recent acoustic testing has proven what was always suspected - Fletcher Insulation Acousti-Therm batts provide an equivalent performance to acoustic Rockwool batts.

In some pockets of Australia there has been a belief that rockwool, with its higher density, will provide a greater acoustic performance when used in wall partitions than glasswool insulation products. Recent field testing conducted by Fletcher Insulation suggests this is not the case when specially formulated Acousti-Therm is used.

This means that Architects and Acoustic Consultants can specify Fletcher Insulation Acousti-Therm with confidence. Acousti-Therm features significant benefits over traditional rockwool products - it is more cost effective to use, is lighter in weight, easier to handle and more compact to transport. Further, Acousti-Therm is labeled with the product's thermal performance (R value) which allows it to be used to meet the BCA insulation requirements when used in external walls or ceilings.

Acousti-Therm batts can be used in external walls and ceilings insulate against noise while effectively combating heat gain in summer and heat loss in winter. They are also very effective at controlling noise transfer within the home, allowing rooms which are likely to generate noise to be isolated. This is gaining favour with homeowners installing home theatre systems or wanting to control the noise emanating from ensuites, laundries or teenage bedrooms! Acousti-Therm can also be used to control transmission noise between the floors of a two storey house.

Fletcher Insulation also have the ability to provide an acoustic prediction on almost any wall or floor/ceiling system with its unique software program, Acousti-Max. Fletcher Insulation Acousti-Max is the most sophisticated program for the prediction of noise transmission loss in walls and floor/ceiling systems. An essential tool for estimating the Transmission Loss (TL) over a range of frequencies, as well as Weighted Sound Reduction Indices of STC and Rw, as required by the Building Code of Australia (BCA).
