Tall Roof Trusses from MiTek Australia

Tall trusses can be difficult to make, transport and manoeuvre into position on-site. That's why top-hat trusses are often the most practical solution to over-sized roof designs. A 5 storey project at Emerald Lake on the Gold Coast called for just that! Scott Rees, truss detailer with MiTek fabricator: Currumbin Roof Trusses was approached by builder Scott Doyle for a smarter solution.

'The builder hadn't worked with top-hat trusses before but being able to clearly and concisely demonstrate how everything would come together (on our MiTek 20/20 program), ensured him this was the way to go,' assured Scott Rees. Top-hat trusses are trusses fitted to a previously fixed, larger bottom truss ie: the bottom chord of the top-hat truss is fixed to the top chord of the bottom truss. 'Securing was straight forward - and the result, fantastic,' said builder Scott. 'Much easier than man-handling huge trusses...that's for sure.'
