Tontine Black Liner RIGID DUCT INSULATION ..Introduction Rigid Duct Insulation is used for two purposes - thermal and acoustic control. Thermal control only as a duct lagging and both thermal and acoustic control as a duct lining. The objective of the insulation is to: reduce noise from equipment and within the building help to control the supply air temperature conserve energy and therefore reduce operating costs prevent condensation of water vapour from air surrounding the duct, and protect the air-conditioning system from mechanical damage. Tontine's Black Liner range of products, available in rolls or sheets, can provide acoustic and thermal insulation suitable for most sheet metal duct systems. Tontine Black Liner will not contribute to "sick building syndrome". ..External Lagging of Rigid Ducting Tontine Black Liner, at 20kg/m3 in a blanket form, is the most suitable product for external lagging of airconditioning ducts. It is recommended that a vapour barrier, such as a reinforced foil laminate, is used for cold air ducting to prevent condensation. However, where condensation is unlikely, such as warm air ducting, the Black Liner can be applied without the addition of a vapour barrier.
