Project Star Hotel - Sydney, Australia.
Scope of work: 7,700 sqm (82,900 sq ft) of curtain wall

Part of the Sydney Casino redevelopment - Project Star - New Hotel (The Darling Hotel), this 13-story hotel and retail podium area is being constructed. The curtain wall presents several features, such as "pop-outs" with a projection of about one metre from the typical façade to create additional internal space.

Furthermore, the 350 casement windows contained within façade panels provide an adequate fresh air supply to each hotel room. A section of the façade on the east end of the building slopes out further as the building rises in height.

This inclined area consists of a long curtain wall spandrel panel made up of 3 or 4 wide panel modules to minimize the joints. The laminated vision glass is glazed on site and fully sealed to create a façade with no visible structural vertical members.

The podium is enhanced by revolving doors, operable glass louvers, entry glazing to steelwork, skylight roof to atrium, large glass awnings fitted with stainless steel patch fittings, stainless steel gutters and cladding. The podium links the entrances to the hotel and the Casino.
