One of the latest and high-profile recent projects was as part of the Darling Harbour Live project.
As part of the expansive AU$3.4B revitalisation project of Darling Harbour, the new Sydney ICC opened in February 2017. Located in the heart of the city, the new venue is envisioned to be Asia Pacific's premier integrated convention, exhibition and entertainment precinct.
In an engagement with infrastructure and real estate giant Lend Lease, Stoddart was the official provider of custom stainless steel fabrication for the revitalisation project. A total of 19 'sign blades' were commissioned, in accordance with specified technical requirements. Stoddart installed the units along the central boulevard between the International Convention and Exhibition centres, as well as the Tumbalong Park precinct, yielding impressive results.
Stoddart's custom stainless steel fabrication of the blades harnessed the rugged properties of perforated 316 stainless steel. The marine-grade build exhibits outstanding resistance to hard wear and corrosive agents, such as moisture, frost and saline air. Along with hygienic properties, the performance features of the stainless steel blades guarantee long-lasting structural integrity under demanding conditions in exposure to the natural elements.

Each blade stands 7 metres tall and 2 metres wide. The blades were subject for custom stainless steel fabrication to meet the required profile of the structural steel frame in housing large LED displays, speakers, and power outlets. In action, the assemblies serve wayfinding and entertainment purposes for the visitors of the complex.

Scattered along the boulevard in random groups of 2s and 3s, the blades are sculptural as much as they are functional. Stoddart supplied the blades in a polished mirror finish, designed to reflect the lights and the overall built environment of Darling Harbour. This quality creates a stunning visual effect from the vibrant landscape of the recreational, cultural and lifestyle hub.
