Advanced wood coating technology for Western Red Cedar from Nanovations
Nanovations Pty Ltd supplier and developer of advanced technology product
solutions, was successfully finished the first project in Sydney where a Nanotechnology
enhanced wood coating has been used on Western Red Cedar. Additionally a landmark building
has been treated in Europe / Austria.

To protect a wooden building component against water and UV-radiation are the most important
functions of a coating. Only by coating the swelling and shrinking of the wood can be kept
within modest limits, and the photo-chemical decomposition of the lignin be prevented. Nanovations
Lignol contains the most advanced UV protection and water repellent technology available on the
market today.
The use of advanced nanotechnology components made it possible to keep the coatings clear and
transparent and extremely thin. Lignol wood care is an impregnating application rather than a
thick layer. The product is highly water repellent reducing the shrinkage of the wood and
protects the wood from algae and mold. The UV protection and UV absorption guard the wood from
graying and oxidation.
Nanovations has done extensive research on wood protection and is offering unique properties
not possible before.
For older Cedar surfaces, a special cleaning solution has been developed to clean the surface
and restore the original color of Western Red Cedar prior the impregnation.
A new top coat with self cleaning properties for full exposed facades will be available from end
of September 2007.
