Trend Windows & Doors expands bushfire
window and door development and testing

Trend Windows has again expanded testing of BAL-40 (Bushfire Attack Level) bushfire windows and doors for use in high risk bushfire areas. This focus is on developing cost affordable window and door systems which will withstand the absolute extremes of bushfire attack.

Trend Windows & Doors® has had an ongoing programme of intensive research, development and extensive testing of bushfire windows and doors over the past 7 years.

In this latest development, Trend recently tested a number of new products which passed the AS1530.8.1 BAL-40 testing at the Exova Warrington Testing facility in Melbourne.

Products that were tested included the new Trend thermAL® hybrid range of energy efficient double glazed windows and doors which are designed specifically for 6 Star residential construction. Trend thermAL® is a revolutionary Hybrid product utilising the strength of Aluminium combined with ERP™, a new state of the art patented Rigid Extruded Polymer to create an extremely energy efficient product for all climates in Australia. Also tested were selected Trend standard windows.

This development expands the range of tested and rated BAL-40 and BAL-FZ products from Trend, which includes the existing extensive offer of the Xtreme® Range of products tested and rated up to BAL-40 and BAL-FZ.

Products tested and passed to BAL-40 in this round included Trend thermAL® awning and casement, windows, Trend thermAL® Crestlite fixed window, all with 24mm, 5mm/14mm air/5mm double glazed toughened glass combinations and Trend thermAL® hinged door with 26mm, 6mm/14mm air/6mm double glazed toughened glass combinations. The Trend products tested included Trend 48mm sliding and awning windows with 5mm toughened glass.
