North Fitzroy house with Dalsouple natural rubber flooring wins local Sustainability award.

Dalsouple natural rubber flooring was installed in a 140-year-old house in Fitzroy North, Melbourne during its recent renovations.

The owners had chosen to add solar panels, a solar hot water tank, a water tank, painted walls with an insulating paint and wanted a floor that was as green as possible The Yarra Council recently awarded the owners with the Innovation in Sustainable Design award.

The house was featured in the May edition of Sanctuary magazine. Their comments in the magazine were, "We're really happy with the way the floor's turned out. Everybody remarks how well (the change in the tile colour) divides the kitchen and the dining space. But they also love the 'give' in it. It's much more forgiving on the feet than vinyl or linoleum, it doesn't smell, and of course it's all natural and renewable rubber." The house was open to the public on Sustainable House day on the 9th September.

Over 300 people walked over the floor and it coped well as it does in huge commercial environments.

Dalsouple rubber flooring comes in 80 standard colours. It can be made up in almost any pantone colour. They also offer a special design your own terrazzo floor where you can choose your own background colour and have 6 different designs and 3 degrees of densities in a few colours.
