What is a Floor Expansion Joint?
Expansion joints are designed to accommodate relative movement caused by concrete contraction or expansion due to thermal changes, unequal concrete setting, seismic movement and concrete creep. They facilitate separate transfer loads, deformations and movements. Expansion joints are also known as structural joints, movement joints, control joints or seismic joints.

Floor expansion joint covers are designed to conceal the location of the gap or void where the movement is occurring in structures. The floor expansion joint covers are fixed over these areas for aesthetic and functional purposes. They carry the loads of pedestrians, shopping carts, pallet-trolleys, forklifts, maintenance equipment, passenger vehicles, trucks or other types of traffic. Coverplate systems should always be flush, in order to provide a smooth transition. This provides for low maintenance requirements and minimises liability.
