Filtered Water Units from Prestige Water

How much water should I drink each day?

That's the burning question; How much water should you drink?

The answer to that differs from person to person depending on your sex, health, weight and are you involved in physical activities/exercise.

Prestige Water recommends "eight glasses of water per day" or at least 2 litres. As the average adult loses around 2.5 litres of water every day, drinking 2 litres of water (minimum) is a good way to replenish your body, the rest of your fluid intake will be provided by the food you will eat during the day. And of course a lot of people will drink tea/juices or other beverages during the day.

To get the full benefits of drinking water, you should try and maintain a steady intake during the day. That's where the Prestige Water coolers come in, giving you unlimited filtered water with added minerals. Close at hand, always available.

WHEN WILL YOUR WATER INTAKE INCREASE?

If you are spending time outdoors in hot weather, sweating more than normally, make sure you drink more water than usually to prevent dehydration.

During exercise, physical activities. Depending on the duration/amount of exercise you undertake, your body will require a larger intake of water to compensate for lost fluids. For short periods of exercise, an extra intake of +/- 500mls of water is recommended. The longer the exercise/physical activity, the more water should be drunken. The general rule is for every 20 minutes of sweat-inducing exercise, one glass of water should be drunken.

If you are ill, your body will lose additional water to the normal amount of water, therefore constant replenishment is required over and above the recommended daily intake.

If it's cold outside, people tend to stop drinking water which is a big mistake. The colder it gets, the more water your body needs to maintain its body temperature.

If travelling, especially by air, you should drink at least one glass of water every hour to help compensate for the high altitude.

If pregnant or breast-feeding your body's need for water will dramatically increase.

Why drink water?

Along with oxygen, water is one of the 2 most essential materials for human life. The average person can survive for about 40 days without food, but most people will die if they go for more than 72 hours without a drink.

About 60 per cent of the human body consists of water. This means that the average adult male body contains 40 litres. Water is necessary for all the chemical reactions that occur in our bodies. It lubricates our joints and is responsible for cleansing our bodies, eliminating potentially poisonous waste products.
