HRV Australia - Australasia's largest residential ventilation company

HRV Australia gave an excited Wayne Twite a Christmas bonus of over $2,500 on Friday when his name was drawn to win his money back on the eco-friendly solar heating and cooling system. Mr Twite was one of 100 people gathered at the HRV head office in Oakleigh South in hope of hearing their name announced.

An HRV whole home ventilation system uses solar energy for residential space heating without the need for solar panels, all for the running cost of a light bulb which is approximately 8cents per 24hr day. "We wanted to thank the 'early adopters' of our technology, which is new to Australia but has been around for years in overseas, by throwing a bit of a party and giving someone a nice Christmas present" said Dave Kennedy, director of HRV Australia.

The winner was drawn by Housing Industry Association (HIA) GreenSmart General Manager, Janine Nechwatal who commended the gathering for their commitment to sustainability for installing cost effective solutions such as HRV. Nechwatal said "HIA GreenSmart is about exceeding the minimum building requirements to achieve environmental responsibility and we are proud to be associated with HRV."

According to the independent studies and letters of testimony on the wall of the HRV offices, the key benefits Mr Twite will enjoy with his new HRV are energy efficient/low emission heating, cooling and unparalleled domestic indoor air quality.

Kennedy says HRV makes use of passive heating in the roof cavity by using the roof itself as a giant solar panel in winter and cool night time air in summer for cooling. This reduces the ever increasing reliance on artificial heating and cooling appliances by up to 80% which can have a significant impact on the overall household energy consumption and expenditure.

With modern building techniques homes are sealed tighter and tighter to keep the warmth in and the cold out and in doing so indoor air quality is compromised and moisture is trapped in the home, which in other countries has increased the incidence of respiratory illness.

HRV is the only system of its type in Australia that ventilates homes with a medical grade filter and positive pressure. This minimise's dust/pollutants entering the home and ensures homes are flushed with clean, fresh air creating a healthier indoor environment for homeowners and their families.

With the addition of an HRV whole home ventilation system existing heating and cooling solutions can be used more tactically and less frequently, as much of the work creating a comfortable temperature has already been done, thereby significantly reducing their input energy requirements and consequently Green House Gas (GHG) emissions. There are significant health benefits associated with breathing fresh, filtered air as opposed to stale, re-circulated dust laden air. The running cost and energy harnessed from an HRV along with the air quality delivered make it unique as an environmentally responsible alternative solution for creating healthy homes, which earned HRV a place in the finals of the HIA GreenSmart product of the year.

"45,000 HRV systems have been installed in Australasia in the last 6 years making us the largest residential ventilation company which gives our customers a lot of confidence that they are dealing with a proven product" said Kennedy.
