ThorHelical masonry reinforcement wire The profile of the Thor Helical tie wires maximise's bonding characteristics when embedded in grout. The wire/grout composite provides excellent compressive and axial strength along the full length of the helically grouted unit. When subjected to an axial load, torsion, (a rotational tendency), is transmitted to the helical wire via one side of its angular faces. This is resisted by an equal reaction on the opposite face of the helix. This torque enables the helical tie wire to progressively accumulate the load, to accommodate natural building movement and to avoid catastrophic or sudden failure. Remedial Crack Stitching Thor 6mm Helical bed joint reinforcement wires are grouted with proprietary Thor DU cementicious grout into slots prepared in existing walls for the purpose of crack repair, increasing flexural strength of masonry or creating load bearing reinforced masonry beams to combat the effects of lintel failure or localised ground movement. The highly deformed helical profile maximise's bonding characteristics between the wire and the Thor DU cementicious grout, providing excellent compressive and axial strength along the full length of the bonded composite. Combining these strengths with the torsional yield characteristics of the wire, the composite unit is utilised to accumulate imposed loads and to disperse them along the full length of the reinforced zone to fully reinstate the structural integrity of distressed masonry and provide resilience against further cracking.
