Fire Retardant Timber Coating from Ceasefire

Cease-Fire Timber FR

Intumescent fire retardant solid colour paint system for exterior and interior timber surfaces. Suitable for exterior use in bushfire prone areas (AS 3959)

Cease-Fire Timber FR is a water based intumescent fire retardant 3 component solid colour coating system. It is developed to meet the performance requirements for "Fire Retardant Timber" as defined in AS/NZS 3838:1998 and the weather exposed durability test ASTM/D.2898 accelerated age weathering as called for in AS 3959. All three individual components must be used as directed to comply with the requirements. The coating system is suitable for both exterior and interior applications where fire retardant performance within domestic premises is required.

PART 1 - Primer: A premium quality white timber primer that has been formulated to provide the ideal base for the CFT Fire Retardant coating. 1 coat required. The product can be applied by brush, roller or spray.

PART 2 - Fire retardant coating: Intumescent (char forming) fire retardant coating that is the heart of the coating system. It has been formulated to provide maximum protection against fire. The coating can be applied by brush, roller, or airless spray to achieve a recommended WFT (Wet Film Thickness) of 350 microns per coat, giving a minimum total WFT of 700 microns with two coats. Refer to Product Technical Data Sheet for more information. Coverage of the paint is approximately 2.8 m2 per litre at 350 microns wet, but may vary depending on the profile and porosity of the surface.

PART 3 - Exterior/interior topcoat: The exterior topcoat is available in gloss or low sheen. This premium quality top coat has been designed to provide a long life protection for the Timber FR coating system. The topcoat is tintable to most exterior paint colours. It can be applied by brush, roller or spray, and two coats are required. In addition to being APAS certified, the topcoat (with the entire system) has been tested to ASTM/D.2829 accelerated age weathering as called for in AS 3959. Interior top coats are also available for work that is not required to comply with AS 3959.
