Black Granite Cladding Fixing System with Stoneclip

The project is at the redevelopment of the Rio Tinto building at 150 Charlotte st, Brisbane by Hutchinson builders.

All of the front of the entry to the building is being clad with 30 mm thick Black Granite. It ranges in height from 3000mm high to 8000mm and some with cavities of down to 20mm (supported with 8mm adjustable Stoneclips)and up to in excess of 100 mm which was restrained with the 12 mm x Stoneclip range of StoneSub brackets as shown in the photo's above.

The sizes of the panels ranged up to 1500x770x30mm thick over the area supported on the StoneSub brackets, which allowed the panels which weighed in at up to 100 kgs each to be supported at up to no more than 50 mm cavities from the channels, which only downloads a weight of no more than 50 kgs/ clip and working well within their design limits.

The installer (Kievel Stone) chose the fixings because of the simplicity of installation and the load they can support.

The StoneSub fixing system allows the clip to be installed in height as well as vertical adjustment, without one effecting the other as such is the case with the old channel system's.
