Recycled timber by Australian Architectural Hardwoods used because its ecologically sustainable, beautiful & stable

When owner Bill Larkin was planning his seaside home he wanted to balance modern lines with a country homestead feel.
"I opted for recycled timber because it is ecologically sustainable but also because of its beauty and stability," he says. "For example the floor boards are 180 mm wide blackbutt with a striking wave pattern, with a matching recycled blackbutt kitchen bench top.

"The warmth of the timber works well with the modern design. My home is aesthetically pleasing and very liveable.

"I used vertical shiplap shadow line recycled weatherboards that blend the house into the surroundings and at the same time very practical.

"Because I like working with fine timbers I did some of the work myself. It's refreshing to work with hardwoods that are straight and stable.

"The mill where I bought the timber provided excellent advice and service and had a large variety of timber allowing me to choose the timber most suitable for my design."

The timber was supplied by Australian Architectural Hardwoods of Kempsey NSW.
