Designed by Brisbane building designer Dwight Kirwood and his team at The Design Studio, the stunning contemporary home is the De Rooy family's own private resort. The brick rendered residence is 850sq m and resides on two and a half acres in Brookfield on the outskirts of Brisbane. David De Rooy, of DDR Developments, owner and builder, chose natural materials such as timber to create a clean modern appearance within his new home. De Rooy says: "My wife and I wanted a home that was modern, open and innovative both internally and externally". The flooring in this magnificent home incorporate some 260sq m of 130 x 19 Red Ironbark overlay from Hyne Timber on 70x35 hardwood battens throughout the living area of the home providing a traditional and natural finish. Recycled products in the form of timber posts and sandstone were specially cut and fitted to the fireplace, to help generate warmth and charm to the home's entry. Huge outdoor living spaces create ideal views of the gorgeous swimming pool among a beautifully landscaped rock garden. A pitched roof is set above the entrance of the home, taking full advantage of natural light and the expansive views provided by the position of the house. The home has a practical layout, with exciting aesthetics and a good climate response. Detached from the main building are the separate guest quarters and four bay garage which can be accessed by an outdoor bridge over a live water stream feature, extending across the front of the residence. |
