NEWS ARTICLE ARCHIVESDematec GRP water tanks specified by German International School![]() Dematec Water announced today that it had completed the supply and installation last month of a 45KL potable GRP water tank at the new German International School in the northern Sydney suburb of Terrey Hills. The GRP tank is of panel type construction, relatively new to Australia. The Bridgestone GRP tank was specified for the project by consultants SEMF. "We like the space-saving attributes of these tanks and Dematec were able to provide the scale and capacity we required for the school," said Greg Kalisz of SEMF's Sydney office. "This is the first GRP tank I have seen and I am pleased with the outcome." The school's builders Jarred Street Developments are also impressed by the ease and speed with which the tank was assembled. "We chose the Dematec product because we found the team easy to deal with," said Andrew Pearce, Construction Manager. "The tank panels are surprisingly light given they are so strong. The Dematec team said it would be built in four days and sure enough it was. It is very robust and looks impressive. We will be using these tanks again." Designed in Japan by Bridgestone, the GRP tanks are made from glass reinforced plastic panels and completely reinforced on the outside so that water does not make contact with steel. The design life of the tanks is in excess of 40 years. "Water is more valuable than ever and it makes sense to invest in decent low maintenance water storage," says Robert Debelle at Dematec Water. "We recently secured the rights to distribute and install these special tanks throughout Australia and the Pacific region after assessing many tank options. We chose the Bridgestone FTC product because of the strength of the brand and the experience it had throughout the world, especially in building large tanks for desalination plants and international airports." Dematec Water's GRP tanks can be assembled for a range of water storage capacities from one cubic metre to 1 million cubic metre's. The lightweight panels make the tanks ideal for retro-fitting in tall buildings and basements, as well as for major water storage needs such as water treatment reservoirs and desalination plants. The tanks are approved for potable water storage in Australian and New Zealand (ASNZS4020) and in the UK, USA, Europe, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and the countries of the Middle East. About Dematec Water: It is an Australian private company, part of the Dematec Group based in Adelaide South Australia. It is aligned with the US-based Fibre Technology Corporation (FTC) which distributes Bridgestone GRP tanks throughout the world from its Dubai factories. ![]() |
