Building Replication onto Hoarding from Scaffad Australia

201 Sussex St, Darling Park - Commonwealth Bank (Now Access Scaffolding)
Challenges
1. Application; As with any photographic recreation, choosing the correct medium would be pivotal to ensure realistic and professional results could be achieved. Viable options included SAV, Alucabond and Flex Face Vinyl.
2. Installation; Although the hoarding was easily accessible, the sites high profile location meant that pedestrian traffic and surrounding areas could not be impeded during the installation.
3. Design; Due to the fact that Scaffad was contracted for the job after the hoarding had been erected, a pre construction facade shot was almost impossible to obtain.
4. Turnaround Time; With extremely tight time lines surrounding the project, the job needed to be designed, printed and installed in a matter of days.
Strategy
1. Application; Given the sheer size of the hoarding, as well as the undulating ground levels, it was decided that the most suitable medium would be a Full UV Digitally Printed Flex Face Vinyl would be used as a canvas skin.
2. Installation; Due to the sites unique CBD location, pedestrian traffic, as well as a nearby café, needed to be considered when looking at installation. Time frames. With this in mind, it was decided that the way to minimise the impact on surrounding areas would be to carry out the installation early in the morning - ensuring everything was completed before 7am.
3. Design; To combat the fact that a pre construction facade shot could not be obtained, Scaffad photographers set out to source photos from each of the unaffected building faces - from building panels, to windows, to nearby vegetation.. The 'Scaffad Creative' team then set about piecing the pictures together like a jigsaw, recreating the original facade.
4. Turnaround Time; Due to the magnitude and scope of the job, time lines were as tight as could be. To overcome this, Scaffad's installation team had fabrication requirements and the job measured up before approval was confirmed, ensuring installation could commence as soon as printing had finished.
Results
1. Application; Due to the photographic quality of Scaffad's Full UV Digital print process, as well as the mediums employed, a perfect recreation of the building facade was produced.
2. Installation; Due to the work put in prior to installation, as well as the fabricated systems and materials deemed suitable for the job, the actual installation was pretty much seamless. Carried out at 3am in the morning, the installation was complete (with an impeccable presentation) by the time the building and surrounding cafes were due to open. Staying true to Scaffad's age old philosophy of 'measuring twice, cutting once!'
3. Design; Once again the time and effort set aside to ensure each of the photographs incorporated were matched perfectly, meant that a passing pedestrian could easily mistake the hoarding for the real thing - proving the end client (Commonwealth Bank) with the desired result.
4. Turnaround Time; due to the preparation and cooperation put in by the design, print and I Installation teams, the project was completed on time, exceeding all expectations.
