Decor Systems DecorTrend Panels: Complementing Queensland 6 Star Green Star Government Building

The new Mike Ahern Centre in Maroochydore, Queensland features eco-friendly design, construction and functionality.

The building has achieved a 6 Star Green Star rating, fulfilling the Queensland Government's initiative for all new buildings to be designed and constructed as environmentally friendly as possible.

A prominent design feature of the interiors in this prestige project are the DecorTrend Acoustic Panels featured in the ground floor entry podium and in the lift lobbies on every level.

The DecorTrend panels underwent stringent analysis at specification stage to ensure full compliance with the 'green' requirements for this challenging project.

Decor Systems Australia have full Chain of Custody certification from the Forestry Stewardship Council; the wherewithal to implement a full life cycle 'cradle to grave' programme was a critical factor in the design selection.

  • Controlled lighting, high efficiency glass and sunshading to windows
  • Printer exhaust system in print rooms
  • Gas boosted heat pump for hot water
  • Storm water is used for toilet and urinal flushing, irrigation and bin washing, saving use of town water resources.
  • Other water saving measures include dual flush toilets, 6 star WELS rated taps as wel las capture and reuse of fire test water
  • Lunchrooms with kitchenettes equipped with energy efficient appliances
