Travertine Tiles and Pavers from Edwards Slate & Stone

Travertine has been popular since Roman times as flooring and it still retains that classical natural beauty today because of its soft neutral beige colours and gentle variation of colour within the stone.

Travertine is a form of limestone and is characterised by small holes throughout the stone. These holes are either left open for a more natural antique look, or filled with cement, which is preferable for interior use to facilitate easy cleaning. Limestone can be left with rough saw marks or honed right up to a high polish. We have chosen a middle range hone that creates a lovely lustre and retains more non slip characteristics.

There are many different sources of Travertine from around the world and the quality and colour varies accordingly. Our Limestone has been sourced from Europe and retains a high structural integrity while retaining its beautiful colours.

Edwards Slate & Stone stocks both varieties of Travertine, one filled and honed for interior use and one natural/unfilled for exterior use.

The interior Travertine is a large format dimension of 457x457x12mm filled and honed. The 12mm thickness allows the stone to match up to other floor coverings in the home.

Limestone pavers for exterior use are 400x600x30. The additional thickness makes them suitable for higher wear exterior use. While this product is unfilled, it is an option to fill some the holes at time of grouting if desired.
