Decorative Embossed Glass Medallions for 3M from Profile Glass

The 3M company started in 1902 as the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Co. They began by mining and manufacturing abrasive products and over the past 100 years moved into household name products like Scotch® tapes and Post-it® Notes.

To celebrate their 100 year anniversary, the Melbourne branch commissioned the production of 5 large glass medallions. Each medallion consisted of the 6 previous logos embossed around the perimeter and their current logo, highlighted using 3M signwriter's vinyl, in the centre.

The medallions were 1500mm wide and slumped out of 15mm thick glass. They were mounted in either a red lightbox or as shown in a stainless steel stand. The use of intricate moulding techniques has created an unique and permanent reminder of the first 100 years of the 3M company.
