JELD-WEN Windows & Doors celebrates a decade on The Block
Opening week revelation of Heritage Listing set to put the All Stars to the test
JELD-WEN Windows and Doors, the name behind the brands loved by homeowners across Australia - Stegbar, Corinthian Doors and Airlite - celebrates a decade of transforming every home on every series of The Block with the premiere of the latest All Stars series on the Nine Network this week.
Across the last decade, contestants on every series of The Block have come to rely on JELD-WEN's comprehensive range of products to bring their renovations to life and this All Stars series is no different. Every room in each house on The Block All Stars features products from JELD-WEN Windows and Doors, from windows to internal and external doors, showerscreens, wardrobes and storage solutions, glass panelled walls, mirrors and splashbacks.
As All Stars, the contestants were all familiar with the Stegbar and Corinthian Doors brands and this series sees the competition returning to where it all began in 2003 in Sydney's iconic beachside suburb of Bondi. Four semi-detached original workers cottages are the stars and all of them come with a Heritage Listing.
The words 'Heritage Listing' will stop the couples in their tracks and require them to maintain, restore and repair the original elements in the front half of every house while out the back the development consent allows for new construction where they will have the freedom to introduce their unique take on contemporary styling.
Week in and week out contestants work collaboratively with the expert consultants and installers from Stegbar and Corinthian Doors to integrate their designs with the range of Stegbar and Corinthian Doors products. Along the journey they all come up with some innovative new ways to use products and push the traditional design boundaries, viewers should particularly keep an eye out in the coming weeks for some bold and funky wardrobe designs and modern ways to use glass in the home.
In this series JELD-WEN also introduces its NSW based brand of Airlite which has established itself as a specialist in custom window and doors for residential heritage restoration projects. Airlite comes on board to help the contestants match existing window profiles in the front half of the house which has to be restored to the satisfaction of the Heritage Consultant attached to the job. As Scotty Cam calls it: "You have to restore or repair it so that it comes out looking like it would have if you bought it brand new in 1910 and no sign-off from the Heritage Man means no sale!"
This aspect of the build combined with the fact the All Stars need to project manage the sourcing of all materials and scheduling of all trades in a tight timeframe of just six weeks will expose viewers of Australia's favourite television series to all the usual highs, lows, fights, make-ups, tears and laughter that emerge in any build or renovation.
To keep up to date with the products contestants choose and to help viewers recreate looks from The Block All Stars, JELD-WEN Windows and Doors has a dedicated page on their website that will be updated weekly with images and information on all the products supplied: http://www.jeld-wen.com.au/media/the-block-allstars-2013/.
