EnduroShield - A Leader In Professional Glass Scratch Removal

As a world leader in glass protection and restoration, EnduroShield has developed an advanced scratch removal system that is able to remove scratches and extensive grinder splatter marks from glass.

The new BHP Billiton Office Tower is 234 metres high, and is the largest commercial building in Perth, Western Australia. With a total of 86,000 square metres of premium quality A-Grade commercial space across 45 levels, it features extensive glass panelling.

Construction started in August 2008 with Brookfield Multiplex completing construction three months ahead of schedule. The building, owned and managed by Brookfield, is targeting a 5 Star Green Star Design rating and a 5 NABERS base building energy rating. BHP Billiton is the anchor tenant occupying 34 floors, while Price Waterhouse Coopers and Barrick Gold will occupy the remaining space in the building.

During the construction process, some of the glass panels were damaged by extensive grinder sparks from the fabrication of stainless steel finished pylons. This looked unsightly and the glass needed to be restored or replaced. There were also a number of panels that had been scratched during installation

EnduroShield WA was chosen to repair the glass facading after successfully demonstrating their high level of technical knowledge and experience in glass restoration with their advanced EnduroShield Restoration System.

Kevin Will, Construction Manager on the BHP Billiton site said: "I'm really impressed with the glass scratch removal of the BHP Billiton Tower by EnduroShield."

"l'm the Construction Manager on this job, but l'm a glazier by trade. And up until now, l've never known anyone who could remove grinder spark scratches from glass panels. Many of the 4.5 metre high by 1.8 metre wide custom-built double glazed units were severely pitted by welds from grinders. At that time, there was only about 4 weeks before the handover of the completed building to BHP Billiton, and the glass in the main lobby was damaged."

"We had no option but to change the glass, but we didn't have the time to bring this custom made glass in from overseas. The cost to change the glass would have been $240,000. We had to find another option and it had to be a quick one."

"I looked for glass polishers and I found EnduroShield. The EnduroShield WA team came to the site straight away. They assessed the damage and immediately said they could fix it. I was sceptical at first because I didn't think the removal of welding marks on glass was possible, but the EnduroShield team did just that. Welding marks were removed from 23 large glass panels. The job was completed on time, with EnduroShield WA working after hours to fit in with our building maintenance schedules and we were able to hand over to BHP Billiton at the allocated time."

The EnduroShield Scratch Removal System has been developed and extensively tested to remove scratches from both internal and external types of glass including tempered and laminated.
