The glass is first melted and then spun into a mat and compressed to the R rating of choice.

Some glasswool batts manufacturers add phenol formaldehyde as the binding agent for the product. Some overseas manufacturers may use more than the acceptable limit so be careful where you buy from.

We sell the popular Knauf Earthwool Batts which used an organic binder in replacement of the unpopular formaldehyde.
