White Knight Paints - Paving the way to a Greener Future with Ultra Pave

The perfect cover-up - both environmentally and visually - for exterior and interior concrete slabs, pavers and masonry has to be the water-based paving paint Ultra Pave.

Developed here in Australia and specifically formulated to withstand our harsh climate, Ultra Pave was recently voted Product of the Year by a leading national homemaker magazine.  And after only 12 months on paint and hardware shelves it is now the best-selling water-based paving paint available.

Manufacturer of the paint, White Knight Paints, claims the advanced acrylic formulation makes the paint far easier to use and less toxic than its solvent-based counterparts, while being far more durable.  It is designed for use on driveways, concrete pavers and masonry plus internal concrete slabs - the beautiful palette of 65 earthy neutrals and pastels creates a wealth of design opportunities that will suit any decorative scheme.

The paint can also be used on concrete surfaces that have been pre-painted with either water-based or oil-based finishes.  The floor pictured was treated to a rather intricate and eye-catching organic design using Cuttle Fish and Smoke Storm.

Ultra Pave dries to a slip-resistant, colour-fast, satin finish that lasts up to five times longer than its solvent-based predecessors.

No primer is required, simply apply two coats of the finish to the correctly prepared surface.  Bare concrete should be clean and dry - although it need only be surface dry as Ultra Pave allows any moisture within the concrete to evaporate.  In addition, new concrete requires only four weeks to cure prior to applying Ultra Pave - instead of the 12 weeks required for conventional paving paint products.

Smooth concrete should always be etched - ideally with a non-toxic etcher such as White Knight Paint's Concrete Etcher.  It is both easier to use and more environmentally responsible than traditional caustic, acid-based etchers.  The surface should always be thoroughly washed afterwards with clean, fresh water whichever etcher is used.

Ultra Pave is touch dry in only 30 minutes, ready for a second coat after only 2 hours and can be walked on in just six hours.

A litre of Ultra Pave, which retails from $25 a litre and $117 for 10, will cover up to 10 square metres.  Pave & Deck Grip retails for $6.95 for a 200g tub which is sufficient additive for a 10 litre can of Paving Paint.

Ultra Pave and Pave & Deck Grip, by White Knight Paints, are available nationally from specialist paint outlets and most hardware stores.
