When the University of Queensland required an attractive, safe and cost-effective surface to cater for varying user demands, they chose Concrete Colour Systems' (CCS) full-depth coloured concrete. The design team involved in the new Chancellor's Place Precinct at the University of Queensland also knew that only an extremely hard wearing, easy to clean surface was ever going to stand up to the enormous volumes of pedestrian and vehicular traffic present. As Dominic Powell from Tract Consultants points out, "colours were chosen which clearly defined pathways of travel while also representing a prominent access point to the campus". "CCS Biscuit and CCS Uluru integrate beautifully with the University's existing sandstone and concrete facades, while the richness of CCS Grape represents the best physical articulation with the University's campus colour - at the same providing excellent screening properties from oil leakages and grime," Powell says. |
