Thermocolour from Flat Glass Industries is the ceramic alternative to glass Thermocolour is a ceramic coating which becomes glass-like after tempering. This process can be used on fully toughened or heat strengthened glass products. It is available in an unlimited variety of colours and design. Process A ceramic coating which becomes glass-like after tempering, is applied to one surface of the glass via silk screening or roller process. The painted glass is then fired within the toughening / tempering furnace to produce a permanent coloured coating on the glass. Properties After being toughened the ceramic paint is baked into the glass making it a scratch resistant product. It will also retain its colour and will not crack or craze even in extreme temperatures. The permanence of the decorative coating will stand the test of time. Patterns Patterns that can be made available include line, dot matrix, marble and granite effects. Company logos can also be reproduced. Installation Typical fixing is aluminium framing, rubber or silicone sealing into the channel. Note: Care should be taken to avoid backlighting. If the Thermocolour panel is to be fixed by silicone sealant or double sided tape to a brick wall or panel wall, visibility of the fixing technique will be evident. In such situations, an opacifier needs to be applied to hide this installation problem. FGI has developed a full range of opacifiers for all situations. When ordering Thermocolour panels, discuss your application with your consultant to arrange the best opacifier for the job.
