TridonicAtco LED signage solutions shine all over the world
There is a clear trend in illuminated signage as LED technology is being used in more and more applications, taking over from traditional neon
systems. With its LED chains and modules, TridonicAtco is helping companies present a bright shiny confident image to the public.
The outward appearance of a company is one of the most important communication tools the company possesses. Corporate design defines how a company, its products
and marketing activities are to be presented. This includes the company's illuminated signage as it not only presents an image of the company and its brands but
also has an immediate signal effect that is visible from far away.
The new power of the brand
International companies, car manufacturers, banks, jewellers and franchise chains such as supermarkets, fast-food restaurants and hotels are rediscovering the
power of attraction of their brands. They want their company logos to appear in high-quality formats - and in the same shape, colour and size throughout the
world to ensure high recognition values.
LEDs are replacing old technology
Over the past few years LED modules in the form of strips or chains have been replacing old-fashioned neon tube systems. These tiny semiconductor light sources
are being preferred for their greater luminous efficacy, lower power consumption, easier installation (thanks to safety extra low voltage, SELV), impressive
reliability and long life. Not to mention their lower maintenance requirements and costs, which in turn means lower operating costs.
Constant colour throughout their lives
In contrast to neon technology, LEDs have precisely defined colours that do not change throughout their long lives. This colour stability is one of the main
reasons why LEDs are used for meeting strict design criteria in illuminated signage. The same light sources achieve the same results throughout the world. Because
LEDs and their control gear are so compact, LED systems can be used for advertising media in all locations - on walls, roofs or pylons - almost irrespective of how
much space is available.
TridonicAtco has the necessary expertise in LED systems to meet strict corporate design requirements, including colours, and is setting new standards in customer
support. For example, special corporate colours can be reproduced by creating individual LEDs, combining standard LED colours or using a specific RGB mix.
Here are some examples:
- As an example of a tailor-made LED solution from TridonicAtco, the purple lettering of Hotel Mercure was produced on an LED board by adapting the D511 RGB chain so
that red and blue chip-on-board light emitting diodes were in the correct ratio for this specific shade of purple.
- To reproduce the lettering and logos for the Swiss Migros supermarkets, the tried and tested P511 LED module chain was equipped with orange high-power LEDs in
COB technology. Because of colour overlaps the orange on the plexiglass front of the signage appears much stronger than usual. The 3,200 mm long P511 chains
are flexible and can be split at any point. Depending on where they are installed, they can be operated with LED 0100 K240, LED 0025 K220 or LED 0010 K301 electronic
converters.
- The logo of Total filling stations made of red coloured "Altuglas MI 4T" has been perfectly matched by LED modules from TridonicAtco to ensure optimum illumination
with brilliant colours. The modified P511 LED chain, consists of 27 modules with red LEDs. The LED 0100 K240 converter is suitable for operating four chains, which
reduces the amount of space required.
- The impressive large-format logo of the Deutsche Bank in the foyer of the Frankfurt headquarters (measuring 3 m x 3 m with a depth of 0.5 m) has an acrylic front
behind which 4000 blue light emitting diodes from TridonicAtco provide uniform illumination. LED P510 B 12 V LED module chains consist of 30 modules each with two
COB LEDs and a constant current source for stabilising the luminous flux. Three-channel pulse-width modulation C001 amplifiers control the brightness of the
individual logo segments.
- Cartier has used LEDs to illuminate its splendid logo in China. Behind the attractive signage for Cartier boutiques are powerful P511 LED module chains in daylight
white from TridonicAtco, operated on a constant output voltage by LED 0100 K240 electronic converters. They produce a white light within very narrow tolerances
and with a highly uniform spread so the overall effect of the signage is one of harmony, perfectly reflecting the exclusivity of the merchandise.
- Ferrari has also opted in China for the brilliance of high-power P511 LED modules operated on K240 converters and encapsulated K220 versions. Again, narrow
tolerances and a high level of uniformity were demanded.
Modern LED technology is proving to be the best solution for illuminated signage, the best way to comply with complicated CI specifications and the best way to
meet specific customer requirements. The colour stability and impressive reliability of LEDs combine to ensure brand presence of the highest quality, both now
and in the future.
