Cadway and BIM - streamlining project deliverables

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is the future of the construction industry. The premise offers vastly reduced errors on site caused by coordination issues in documentation, the ability to analyse the structures real world performance over its life cycle, visualisation, quick and simple cost estimating, and post occupancy maintenance, ultimately reducing construction & documentation costs as well as time frames. BIM steps practitioners outside the square and creates a dynamic whereby all stakeholders can adhere to all aspects of the design process. This includes building codes, energy efficiencies and common issues early on.

We at Cadway are early adopters of this process utilising BIM capable software in the form of Autodesk Revit. By working with consultants utilising and integrating multiple software platforms, including Structural, Mechanical, Electrical and Hydraulic Engineers, a complete and resolved building model is created. Much of the co-ordination is automated and errors are identified very early so they can be addressed at a minimum cost. The same model that's used for construction can also be used for photorealistic and stylised marketing, thereby giving their clients a real life impression of the finished product, sometimes a couple of years in advance.

Many major industry players are now in the process of getting up to speed on how to integrate BIM intelligence into their working processes. Cadway is partnering with companies looking to produce the results they require in a timely fashion. We have armed ourselves with the training and intelligence from many sources and indeed as recently as 2 weeks ago at a conference in Singapore. Our Lead Technical Manager trains in this field along with Revit Implementation that go hand in hand. He is able to speak to the importance and relevance of both these mediums to enhance a higher quality and more streamlined way of facilitating an often problem heavy process.
